Argument over cigarette leads to murder at Waffle House

BILOXI, Miss. — An argument over a cigarette led to a murder at a Mississippi Waffle House Friday morning.

Biloxi police told WLOX it happened around 1 a.m. at the Waffle House on Highway 90.

The fight started when 45-year-old Johnny Mount refused to put out the cigarette he was smoking in the restaurant.

According to police, Mount pulled out a handgun and shot the female employee who asked him to put the cigarette out.

The 52-year-old woman was rushed to Merit Health Biloxi, where she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Mount was charged with murder and is being held in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
