Update — Interstate 85 southbound in Thomasville has reopened after a wreck involving a flatbed tractor-trailer.

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Interstate 85 southbound in Thomasville is blocked off at mile marker 100 just after the Lake Road exit due to a wreck.

The call came in just after 1 a.m.

According to Lt. Darren Flannery, from the Pilot Fire Department, a flatbed tractor-trailer overturned, spilling three large concrete slabs in the roadway.

A car traveling behind the truck did not have time to stop and hit one of the concrete slabs head-on.

The man driving the car was taken to a local hospital by Davidson County EMS. His injuries were minor.

Officials said the driver of the flatbed was not injured.

Highway Patrol is still working to determine what caused the wreck.

Traffic is being diverted through a nearby rest area as crews load the concrete slabs onto a truck.

The road is expected to be open by 6 a.m.
