LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Lexington man has been charged with raping a 12-year-old child, according to The Lexington Dispatch.

Curtis Campbell, 20, of 702 Market St., was charged with first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 13.

Lt. Michael Hunt told The-Dispatch that police have been searching for Campbell since the assault was first reported in August of this year.

Campbell was captured in San Antonio and extradited to Davidson County Sunday.

He was also wanted for several sex crimes in the Myrtle Beach area.

Due to the nature of the alleged crime, additional charges could follow.

Campbell is being held at the Davidson County Detention Center under a $350,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
