MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A woman whose body washed ashore in Myrtle Beach in May 2013 was identified on Monday, according to WECT.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the woman as Robin Ann Kelly of Raleigh.

Someone reported finding the body of an apparent drowning victim near 24th Avenue South on May 5, 2013.

The middle-aged woman was wearing a bathing suit and had a dolphin tattoo on her left ankle, but no other forms of identification were found on the victim.

The Horry County Coroner’s Officer, along with other local agencies, launched an investigation to determine the woman’s identity and how she died.

Someone eventually recognized Kelly after seeing a report on WMBF.

Authorities contacted the woman’s family and cross-matched their DNA with Kelly’s.
