Rowan County teen arrested on attempted murder charge
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Rowan County teen is due in court Monday after police say he attempted to kill his girlfriend over the weekend.
Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an abandoned home, located at 350 East Ritchie Road in Salisbury, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
After inspecting the scene, deputies responded to the emergency room at Rowan Regional Medical Center, where they met with the victim of an alleged assault.
The victim told deputies that her boyfriend picked her up around noon because they had plans to go eat lunch. While they were on the way to lunch, the victim’s boyfriend said he needed to go look for something that his brother had left at a house, so he drove to the abandoned home on East Ritchie Road.
The victim’s boyfriend went into the home and after waiting for an extended period of time, the victim went inside to look for him. When she entered the home, her boyfriend attacked her with a knife and held her there for a period of time before taking her to the hospital.
After obtaining a statement from the victim, deputies arrested and charged Brandon Ulysses Flores, 18, of 1077 Arrowhead Circle in Salisbury, with one count of attempted murder. He was originally placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
On Sunday, Flores was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and false imprisonment.
Flores is now being held without bond until his first court appearance.
The victim was treated for her injuries, which included a serious cut to her left hand, before she was released from the hospital.
