Plane lands on Business 85 in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- A small plane made an emergency landing on the side of Business 85 near Hargrave Road on Monday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 3:13 p.m.

Three people were on board the plane. It was on its way from Tennessee to Siler City, the pilot said.

The pilot said the plane started sputtering and he was trying to land at the Davidson County Airport, which is near the scene, but he was unable to get there.

All three people on board the plane were uninjured.

The right lane of northbound Business 85 is closed at the scene and is expected to reopen by 11 p.m., according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
