CHICAGO – A Chicago woman is facing charges after police say she threw her newborn child out of a window, killing the baby, according to WBBM.

Detectives have found the mother of the female newborn, according to police sources. That woman has reportedly made a statement admitting that she threw the baby from her ninth floor apartment late Wednesday night.

Friday, neighborhood residents gathered at the now flower-draped spot where the baby girl’s body was found. The umbilical cord was still attached.

Police say the motive in this case was family pressure and opposition to her pregnancy because the baby was mixed-race. The mother is of East Indian descent, the father, a young black man from Chicago.
