CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It took one family more than four years to finally make it to Charlotte after fleeing from Syria.

The family of seven is staying with another family in Charlotte after Catholic Charities helped them resettle.

They said it’s a long process for refugees to go through, but they made the decision after some of their relatives were killed.

There are currently 25 Syrian families living in Charlotte, and Catholic Charities officials said it’s important to help those fleeing find a safe place.
