FRANKLIN, N.C. — Caterpillar Inc. confirmed Friday it is eliminating at least 80 jobs at a plant in Franklin that will be closed by June, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The company filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN) notice with the N.C. Commerce Department.

Notices are required of companies planning a facility closing or a mass layoff of more than 50 employees. The notice offers employees at least a 60-day heads-up about the ending of their jobs.
