Man displaced by apartment fire in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One person was displaced by an apartment fire that started Tuesday night in Winston-Salem.

Firefighters responded to an apartment located at 301 Abattoir St. just after 9 p.m.

When they arrived on the scene no smoke or flames were visible from outside the structure.

Firefighters entered the apartment and put out a fire inside the kitchen.

The owner of the apartment was notified of the damage and the Red Cross responded to help the man who was displaced.

An investigation revealed that the fire was caused by unattended food on the stove.
