RANDLEMAN, N.C. — Ford is once again teaming up with Randleman-based Petty’s Garage for a run of limited-edition 2016 Mustang GTs.

Performance Car Guide reported that Petty’s Garage will build 243 King edition models, 43 King Premier and 14 King Premier convertibles.

The Petty’s Garage 2016 Mustang GT King edition features up to 727 horsepower and includes three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty.

“I’ve always liked the look of the Mustang, and the 2016 model gives us a great base car to work with,” said Richard Petty. “These new King edition Mustangs are pretty much the way I’d build my own. They are great fun to drive, and have a signature single exhaust. With the new paint on the Premier edition, that’s how you know we built it. They look pretty sharp.”

Brian Johnson from the legendary rock group AC/DC bought the first one off the line for just over $92,000. He was apparently “thunderstruck.”

Orders for the limited edition Mustang can be placed at any Ford dealership.
