Deputies arrest man in connection to fatal shooting in Elon

ELON, N.C. – Deputies have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing another man at a home early Saturday morning in the Caswell County-portion of Elon.

Rashawn Lamar Alston, 23, of Yanceyville, has been charged with felony first-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Tamamario Reshawn Taylor.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday to the shooting at 3908 Cherry Grove Road.

The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper leg. Emergency responders took him to Annie Penn Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Taylor’s body was taken to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an official autopsy.

The suspect has been jailed without bond in Caswell County and has court planned for later this week.

The circumstances surrounding what led to the shooting have not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
