Sex offender arrested after visiting North Carolina high school

LELAND, N.C. — A registered sex offender has been arrested for allegedly visiting a North Carolina high school.

The Port City Daily reported that Christopher Jason Long, 31, of Bolivia, has been charged with being a sex offender on the premises of a school with minors.

The suspect was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly visited North Brunswick High School in Leland. His GPS monitoring system alerted authorities to where he was, according to the paper.

The suspect was placed in the Brunswick County jail under a $300,000 bond and also faces a habitual felon charge.

Long originally registered as a sex offender after a 2009 conviction of attempted indecent liberties with a minor. He was 22 and the victim was 13.
