RANDLEMAN, N.C. — You don’t see many people around the Piedmont sporting pink hair – but for a man in Randleman it is part of a yearly tradition.
For the last five years, on the third Sunday in October, Frances Pope has been coloring her 80-year-old husband Jimmy’s hair, beard and eyebrows pink.
It's on this Sunday when their church, Randleman Friends Meeting, asks congregation members to wear something pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
“It just brings such joy and smiles to everybody's face and then that way we have the opportunity to just mention breast cancer awareness,” said Frances Pope.
The couple said this day is personal for them because they have had several family and friends fight battles with breast cancer.
