Silver Alert issued for missing Winston-Salem man

June Mitchell, 61, of Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Police in Winston-Salem are looking for a man who went missing earlier today and is suffering from dementia.

A Silver Alert has been issued for June Mitchell, 61, who moved to Winston-Salem a few days ago from Mount Airy, according to police.

Mitchell is suffering from dementia, mini-strokes, diabetes and high blood pressure, according to Winston-Salem police. He left his home on foot at about 3 p.m. Friday and has not been seen since.

Mitchell is described as a 61-year-old black man, standing 5’7″ and weighing about 170 pounds with gray and black short hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen in a long-sleeve lime green shirt, light blue jeans, a black dress hat and black, green and purple Nike shoes.

Police are asking the public for help in finding Mitchell. The investigation is ongoing.
