North Carolina mother accused of murdering infant child

DURHAM, N.C. – A North Carolina mother is accused of murdering her 2-week-old infant daughter, according to the News & Observer.

Twila Mae Beunier, 30, of Durham, faces charges of murder and felony child abuse in connection to the death of her baby, Briseida Abarada.

The suspect was charged Thursday after an autopsy performed by the state medical examiner’s office. The baby died in June.

Authorities said they went to a cardiac arrest call shortly before 6 a.m. on June 6 at a home in Durham.

The baby was found inside the house and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office recently ruled the death a homicide. The infant victim suffered head injuries, according to the autopsy.

The suspect was placed in the Durham County Jail without bond and has court on Monday.
