GREENSBORO, N.C. — A water main break in Greensboro flooded a local business and caused a significant amount of damage Wednesday morning.

The water main broke on Creek Ridge Road between Teague Street and Lynhaven Drive. The water has stopped flowing and crews are working to determine what caused the break.

Joe Jarvis, the owner of Joe Jarvis Carpets, on Creek Ridge Road, said his shop was flooded when water came out the bathroom toilet and another sink.

He said most of his “in stock” inventory was damaged.

Jarvis called his insurance company, but it is still unclear if the damages will be covered. The city also told him that it is up to his insurance to pay for any damages.

On top of everything else, Jarvis said the water also went into his heating vents and now the heating system may have to be replaced.

Jarvis said he is losing a lot of business today on top of the money he will lose in inventory and shop repairs.
