Suspect arrested after News & Observer break-in
RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a suspect after the News & Observer break-in early Sunday morning. He vandalized the newsroom, leaving a trail of blood.
Several computers were thrown out of third-floor windows and office files were opened and tossed outside along with electronics.
Ethan Michael Mangum, 23, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, injury to a building, fence, or wall, and injury to personal property in connection to the incident at the newspaper office.
In connection to the second incident at the First Presbyterian Church nearby on Salisbury Street, Mangum is charged with breaking and entering, injury to real property, and injury to personal property.
Police said they received a CrimeStoppers tip after media coverage including a surveillance photo.
