Rain and mist have been with us now for part of two days and we expect the heaviest rain to arrive later this evening and overnight.

As of mid-afternoon, a general ½ inch to 1 inch of rain has fallen so far.

We expect another 2 to 3 inches tonight with some spots getting near 4 inches of additional rainfall by tomorrow morning.

During the day on Saturday, we will see the heaviest rain shift west and south and we expect ours to become scattered and then isolated.

Coverages will again increase on Sunday afternoon, night and Monday morning.

By the time we are done, an average of 4 to 6 inches of rain is expected across the area. Amounts will be higher near and west of Charlotte, where 8 to 10 inches is expected. The bull’s-eye for heavy rain is in South Carolina, where up to a foot is expected.

Temperatures near 60 tomorrow and mid-60s on Sunday. We head back to near 70 on Tuesday with sunshine returning. More sun through the week with highs in the low to mid-70s and lows in the 50s.
