CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A chair belonging to legendary UNC basketball coach Dean Smith has auctioned off for $15,000.

Smith’s office chair sold for $15,000 on Friday morning at a Roy Williams charity breakfast, according to ESPN sports reporter Darren Rovell.

The winning bidder was Dr. Mark Graham, a former oncologist at UNC Lineberger, according to GoHeels.com. He is currently in private practice.

Graham said he plans to keep the chair in his treatment room for those receiving chemotherapy.

Roy Williams hosted his 11th annual 11th annual Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast on Friday morning. The money raised will go toward UNC Lineberger and the American Cancer Society.

Smith coached UNC basketball from 1961 to 1997. He retired with nearly 900 victories and the 9th highest winning percentage of any men’s college basketball coach. He died in February.
