Police officer shot, killed at South Carolina mall

FOREST ACRES, S.C. — A South Carolina police officer was killed in a mall shooting Wednesday morning, according to WIS.

Officer Greg Alia, 32, was shot while responding to a call about a suspicious person inside the Richland Mall just before 9 a.m.

The suspect, identified as Jarvis Hall, was armed with a gun and a knife, according to police.

Alia was a 7-year veteran of the force. He is survived by his wife and a baby boy.

The investigation is ongoing.

Hall is still in custody and is being questioned.
