Update — Duke Energy is reporting that 107 customers in the Winston-Salem area are still without power.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A fallen tree has closed a section of Old Greensboro Road in Kernersville.

The tree fell across the road and damaged two utility poles in the area. More than 2,500 Duke Energy customers in Forsyth County are without power as a result.

Due to the extent of the damage, Duke Energy doesn’t anticipate restoring power to all customers in the area until mid-to-late afternoon Wednesday.

There will be some traffic issues as a result of the repair work.

Guthrie Road between I-40 and Highway 158 will be closed for most of the day while crews make the repairs.

Old Greensboro Road will also be blocked between Linville Road and Reidsville Road until approximately 3 p.m.

Motorists should use alternate routes for their morning commute and throughout the day.

Duke Energy asks that any customers who experience an outage call 1 (800) 769-3766.
