CARY, N.C. – A North Carolina woman has changed her name to Oprah Winfrey.

WNCN reported that Cary resident Bonita Dunbar charged her name to Oprah Winfrey because she admires Winfrey’s achievements.

Dunbar became a United States citizen on Friday. She decided to use the opportunity to change her name.

“If I had a choice to be anybody in life, I’d would love to be somebody who inspires others, somebody who can touch lives and changes lives or history and the future and the present,” Dunbar said, according to the TV station.

Dunbar came to the United States in 1993 as a refugee from Liberia not knowing how to read or write. She has since graduated from college and owns a business in Cary.
