GREENSBORO, N.C. — An investigation is underway after a 22-year-old crashed a stolen vehicle into a police cruiser Thursday night.

Ravonte Dunlap, of Greensboro, was speeding in a stolen 2004 Volvo S40, traveling east on East Bragg Street just before 8:30 p.m., according to police.

Dunlap didn’t stop at a stop sign at East Bragg and Bennett streets and crashed into Officer ER Elsasser’s marked police cruiser.

Elsasser was driving south on Bennett Street at the time of the crash.

The impact from the initial crash sent the officer’s vehicle into oncoming traffic where it crashed into an Acura RL operated by 33-year-old Arvintino Lea.

All of the drivers were taken to local hospitals.

Elsasser and Lea both sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Dunlap sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to police.

Bennett and East Bragg streets were shut down for a short period of time but have since been re-opened.

The crash is being investigated by the crash reconstruction unit.
