GREENSBORO, N.C. — A family is homeless after their home caught fire early Friday morning in Greensboro.

A fire broke out in the family’s duplex on Byrd Street around 2 a.m.

Firefighters said that because of the rain, they were able to put the fire out quickly.

One side of the duplex is a total loss, but the family did make it out safely.

The unit beside the one that was on fire has some smoke and fire damage as well.

There is still no word on what caused the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the family of four.
