Lexington woman charged with abusing 2-year-old

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Lexington woman was charged with child abuse after family members reported that her 2-year-old had numerous bruises on her body.

When deputies arrived at 25-year-old Tamra Lee Wood’s home at 607 Arvil Hunt Road, they found two marijuana plants growing in the home and non-prescribed prescription medication.

Wood was charged with child abuse, growing marijuana, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was placed in jail under a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 11.

Child Protective Services placed the child in the care of a family member.
