OREGON INLET, N.C. — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a 38-year-old man who went missing while spear-fishing near Oregon Inlet on Saturday, according to WECT.

Kristopher Mueller, of Avon, was last seen fishing by the Bonner Bridge in the Oregon Inlet around 5:30 p.m.

The National Park Service found Mueller’s vehicle and the Oregon Inlet Coast Guard found his kayak on the shore. The kayak still had fish, a life jacket, a cellphone and snorkeling gear aboard.

An airplane and helicopter crew helped conduct the search.
