North Carolina man charged with DWI after allegedly hitting family with car

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. – A North Carolina man has been charged with DWI after authorities said he hit a mother, father, toddler and baby with his car.

WECT reported that Jeremy Brown, 30, of Garner, was driving a car that hit the family on a path for pedestrians along a road.

It happened at Carolina Beach at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday as the family was visiting from New Jersey, according to reports.

The parents were pushing their children in a stroller when the car hit them, according to officials.

The father reportedly suffered a laceration to the head and bumps and bruises and the mother’s tibula was broken.

The toddler boy will need stitches to the head and the infant girl suffered some scratches, according to officials.

The suspect was not injured. In addition to DWI, he was also charged with marijuana possession and failure to maintain lane control.

Police said he could be charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
