10-year-old North Carolina boy dies at pee wee football practice

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 10-year-old North Carolina pee wee football player died after collapsing on the field in practice.

WCNC reported that Omari Chambers died Thursday after football practice with the West Charlotte Hornets youth football team.

The cause of the child’s death has not been released. Friends, family and teammates are still mourning his loss.

The team had practice on Friday and is still scheduled to play Saturday. There’s been an outpouring of support for Chambers in the community.
