UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teacher is under investigation after being arrested and charged with sex crimes against children, CMS Superintendent Ann Clark told WSOC Monday morning.

Clark said Timothy Olson, a 5th-grade teacher at Polo Ridge Elementary, has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Olson was arrested in Union County on August 13 and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. CMS said they have not been advised that the investigation is connected in any way to the Olson’s responsibilities or employment with the district.

Olson has been employed with CMS since 2012.
