SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a dog attack on Saturday.

According to WYFF, the incident happened at about 6 p.m. Saturday.

Porsche Cartee, 25, died from dog bites to the head and body.

Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement said a 7 to 10-year-old male pit bull attacked Cartee and two other women who lived in the house.

The dog was unneutered and weighed 85 pounds, Environmental Enforcement said. The family had owned the animal since it was a puppy.

Investigators are not sure why the dog turned on its owners.

Environmental Enforcement said it attacked an older women first and Cartee stepped in to help before the dog killed her. A third woman was reportedly able to get the dog off Cartee and put it in a secure location until authorities arrived.

Lab results have been sent to Columbia, S.C., to determine if the dog had rabies.

The incident remains under investigation by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control.
