KANSAS CITY. Mo. — The popular rock band the Foo Fighters have gotten revenge on the infamous Westboro Baptist Church.

It happened Friday night as the “church” was protesting outside a concert venue in Kansas City where the Foo Fighters were going to play.

Fan footage shows the band riding to the protesters in a pickup truck blaring the 1987 Rick Astley hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

A clip was uploaded to YouTube Saturday and already has more than 1 million views.

In it, a member of the band can be seen holding a poster that reads, “You Got Rick Roll’d (Again).”

“Never Gonna Give You Up” is a popular song which Internet users try and trick others into watching. The term “Rickrolled” was used for the prank beginning in 2007, according to Billboard.com.

Rolling Stone reported Friday night’s incident wasn’t the first time the Westboro Baptist Church has protested outside a Foo Fighters concert.

The magazine notes it’s “customary” for the group to demonstrate whenever the rockers are in Kansas City.

In 2011, Foo Fighters, clad in wigs, surprised the group in a counter-protest by serenading them with country music from a flatbed truck outside the same venue.

The Westboro Baptist Church tweeted after the most recent counter-protest Friday, “Did @FooFighters just #rickroll us? Oh well!”

The Westboro Baptist Church frequently pickets various events such as military funerals, gay pride gatherings, high-profile political gatherings and university commencement ceremonies.

They’re known for their controversial picket signs, some of which read “THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS” and “GOD HATES F*GS.”
