BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police have issued a warrant for arrest for a man they say is responsible for robbing a person at gunpoint earlier this month.

Mario Lenndale Williams, 18, of 208 E. Sixth St. in Weldon, is wanted for one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, Burlington police said today.

He is accused of robbing a man on Aug. 5 about 2 a.m. The incident happened at the intersection of South Ireland and Washington streets, when a man stopped his vehicle to help what appeared to be a stranded woman, police said.

Instead, two men approached the victim’s vehicle with handguns, and the victim was assaulted and robbed of cash, his cell phone and his car keys.
