Winston-Salem police investigating child’s death as possible child abuse

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating the death of a 2-year-old child from Stokes County.

As of now, the police department is calling it a child abuse case.

Officials say the child was from Stokes County, but the possible abuse happened inside the Winston-Salem city limits.

On Sunday, police and EMS responded to the 5400 block of Grubbs Street in reference to an unresponsive child. The child was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

On Wednesday at 1:27 a.m., the child died.

Nobody has been charged in connection to the death or the possible abuse at this time.
