KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A mother says grown men poured gas on her teenage son and threatened to light him on fire.
Tiffany Black is now on a mission to have those men punished.
Black said the men were drunk and looking for a fight, and her 16-year old son was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“He looked at the men and that is all it took,” Black said.
Black said her son, Anthony Nelson, noticed the men acting drunk and heckling a clerk. When he made eye contact with them, she said one of the men immediately started asking, “Do we have a problem?” and got aggressive.
Black said she asked the store’s manager to show her the surveillance video to see how it all unfolded. She said she was appalled at what she saw.
“They backed all the way up parallel to my son’s car and continued to yell profanities at him,” Black said.
Recognizing the men could be drunk, Anthony tried to calm things down by putting up his hands and backing away.
It didn’t work. Just as he thought they were leaving, the men threw their truck in reverse. The passenger jumped out and yanked the gas pump out of Anthony’s car. He then poured gas on Anthony.
“I do remember him saying ‘I should light your ass on fire right now.’ Immediately all I felt was the gas. I smelled it,” Anthony recalled.
Anthony said he’s thankful he pre-paid for just $5 worth of gas. When the man grabbed the pump to spray him, it had already stopped, so only the gas left inside the hose poured onto his arm.
Black has taken to social media with a description of the men and the truck. Within 24 hours, people contacted her with the name of the men she believes were responsible. She’s given those names to police.
“I would love for them both to be arrested and justice brought to them. He is a minor. You assaulted two children,” Black said.
