CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. — The new casino and hotel near Murphy, in Cherokee County, is set to open next month.

Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel says it will be ready for visitors Sept. 28. The final touch-ups are being made now.

The $110 million facility will have 70 table games and more than a thousand slot machines.

Casino operators say the difference between this one and the one on the Cherokee Reservation is that this one is focused on gambling. The other is a full resort destination.
