ASHEBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina Zoo will be closed on Friday due to storm damage, according to a spokesperson with the zoo.

A late afternoon storm moved through the area, knocking down a number of trees that need to be cleaned up to make the zoo safe for visitors, according to Gavin Johnson.

No animals were injured in the storm, according to Johnson.
