Allegiant Air flight makes emergency landing in Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. — An Allegiant Air flight with 146 passengers had to make an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport on Monday, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The flight was on its way from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport in Florida to Richmond, Va., when it had to divert to PTI.
Allegiant Air told the Times the flight was diverted due to an engine issue. Passengers reported smelling smoke and hearing a loud popping noise before crew members told them the flight would make an emergency landing.
The flight landed in Greensboro at 10:58 a.m. Passengers were expected to board another flight to Richmond at about 4 p.m.
Allegiant bought pizza for the grounded passengers while they waited.
All passengers will be refunded for the air portion of the flight segment and given $100 vouchers.
