LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina woman went into labor at her best friend’s wedding and had the baby on the same day.

WBTV reported that Leslie Leith found out she was pregnant on the same day her best friend Charley Norman got engaged to her now-husband.

Leslie was Charley’s Matron of Honor. The two Lincoln County women have been best friends since 2007.

“There was always a running joke it was going to happen the day of. It was just a joke,” Charley said, according to WBTV.

On the day of the wedding on May 30, Leslie reportedly started having mild contractions. The doctor reportedly said it sounded like “pre-labor,” so she decided to attend the wedding.

The contractions became more frequent throughout the day and after the bride and groom said “I do,” Leslie went to the hospital. Her baby boy was born about two hours later.

The bridal party then headed to the hospital to celebrate. Charley said it was an “amazing” and “epic” day.
