NC man allegedly hits 9-year-old girl with truck, steals her bicycle, drives off

NEWPORT, N.C. — A North Carolina man is accused of hitting a 9-year-old girl with his truck, stealing the girl’s bicycle and then leaving the scene.

WCTI reported that 18-year-old Zachary Armstrong has been charged with hit-and-run, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

The suspect is accused of hitting a girl on her bicycle with his truck Tuesday in Newport.

He then allegedly stopped, picked the girl’s bike up and put it in his truck and drove off.

The girl reportedly suffered a concussion and can’t remember what happened. She was taken to the hospital and released the next day.

The suspect was arrested after he returned to the scene and witnesses recognized his truck, according to WCTI. He was jailed under a $20,000 bond.
