Owner of funeral home in Reidsville shot by son, rushed to hospital

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — The owner of a funeral home in Reidsville was shot and rushed to the hospital Friday morning.

The call came in at 9:20 a.m. about a shooting at the Johnson and Son Funeral Home, located at 115 Holderby St. in Reidsville.

Police say James Johnson, 76, was shot inside the funeral home by his son Garcia Johnson.

After Garcia Johnson shot his father, he left the scene.

Garcia Johnson is believed to be driving a silver 2005 Town & Country van with license plate number CBK-8681 and also owns a 2012 Toyota Camry with license plate number CCD-3092..

Investigators say the suspect made phone calls to people he knew after the shooting.

Authorities believe he is in another county and have notified law enforcement officers in surrounding counties.

James Johnson is out of surgery and is stable condition.
