CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina pastor said she plans to protect her church with a pistol.

WCNC reported that Pastor Brenda Stevenson of the New Outreach Christian Center in Charlotte recently announced that she plans on buying a pistol to protect her congregation.

“We need protection,” Stevenson said. “I want them to know ‘Have no fear. God is here,’ but we got two more members. Smith, and Wesson.”

The church is reportedly known in the community for helping thousands of people during the holidays. But Stevenson said some of the people they help have frightened her.

Stevenson said members of her church support her decision to get a firearm.
