Greensboro teen shot, taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A teen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting early Friday morning in Greensboro.

The teen was shot in the back just after 3 a.m. at 305 Avalon Road.

While police were investigating the shooting, a second teen involved in the shooting returned to the scene. The teen had a head injury and told police he was jumped outside of his home. A fight ensued and he got control of the attacker's gun and shot someone.

The second teen was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police have not yet determined the motive for the assault.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The 17-year-old shooting suspect is cooperating with police.
