LAS VEGAS — Police have released a documentary-type video about the day two officers and a Good Samaritan were killed during a rampage in northeast Las Vegas.

On June 8, 2014, about 11 a.m., Las Vegas Metro police officers Igor Soldo and Alyn Beck were having lunch at a pizza parlor at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue. That was when two people – a man and a woman – walked in and shot the two officers, killing them.

The armed couple then walked across the street and into a Walmart store. The man fired a shot into the air and told everyone to get out of the store. That was when shopper Joseph Wilcox, who was carrying a legally concealed weapon, tried to intervene. While Wilcox was approaching the man who had fired, his female counterpart shot and killed Wilcox.

Eventually, the rampaging pair was cornered in the store by police. The man was killed during a shootout with police. The woman was shot and later died at a local hospital.

On Tuesday, the department posted an 11-minute video on its YouTube channel, which featured the responding officers, their perspectives of the horrific day and surveillance video from the Walmart store.

In the video, six officers recount their reaction to the call about an active shooter, and their strategic methods in dealing with the threat.

At the end of the video, the officers become emotional when they look back on the day, and think about the families of their fallen comrades.

The video ends with a tribute to Beck and Soldo.

Twenty-three officers were awarded the department’s Medal of Valor and Unit Meritorious for their actions that day.
