Teenage girl killed, six others hurt in North Carolina crash; alcohol a factor

WAXHAW, N.C. – A 16-year-old girl is dead and six other people were injured in a crash in North Carolina on Saturday night.

WBTV reported that Autumn Plyler of Waxhaw was identified as the victim who died in the crash. She was reportedly riding as a passenger.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle lost control and went off the side of the road outside of the Waxhaw city limits, about 30 miles south of Charlotte.

The driver then allegedly over-corrected, crossed the centerline, went off the road and hit a tree.

One person was airlifted and five others taken to the hospital, but their names and conditions have not been released, according to WBTV.

Alcohol was said to be a factor in the crash, but further details were not released, according to the TV station.
