VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A teenager was arrested after he allegedly stole a phone and started posting selfies on it near the Virginia-North Carolina line.

WTKR reported that the teenager was arrested in connection to an iPhone that was stolen out of a car in Virginia Beach last month.

The owner of the iPhone said after the phone was stolen, nearly 40 pictures and three videos including selfies, started popping up on his iCloud account.

WTKR aired the story and the teen was quickly identified and arrested after his photos started to circulate, according to the station.

“I’m so excited,” said victim Joe Harris, who owned the phone. “It’s not just about a cell phone. The cell phone was worth only $50 dollars or $100 dollars. It’s just going into other people’s property, it’s personal.”

Police have filed a warrant for the 16-year-old on charges of grand larceny and entering into a motor vehicle to commit a crime.

Authorities said they are also investigating whether or not the teen is a suspect in two other car break-ins reported in the same area.
