GREENSBORO, N.C. — Five people were hospitalized when an SUV crashed into Muddy Creek in Greensboro on Friday afternoon, according authorities.

The SUV was westbound on Phillips Avenue shortly before 12:30 p.m., at Woodmere Park, when it ran off the side of the road, crashed into the creek and overturned, according to officials.

Paramedics took five people who were injured to a hospital, Hewlett said. The extent of their injuries was not known.

Phillips Avenue remains closed while the crash is investigated.
