BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The City of Burlington has cancelled all activities for Friday's "July 3rd in the Park" celebration, including fireworks, due to the threat of inclement weather.

The event will not be held on Saturday, July 4, but will be rescheduled in the future.

"We just want to make sure everyone is going to be safe and not be caught out in a storm," said Burlington Special Events Supervisor, Mary Faucette.

It's taken organizers months to plan this event. City leaders made the tough call around noon on Friday.
