Judge sets deadline for company to respond in Yadkin hospital dispute

YADKINVILLE, N.C. — A federal judge has given the former for-profit operator of Yadkin Valley Community Hospital until July 20 to respond to a complaint submitted by Yadkin County officials.

Yadkin commissioners filed a motion in federal court June 3 that requested HMC/CAH Consolidated Inc. be found in civil and criminal contempt for breaching its lease contract to run the Yadkinville hospital.

The defendants include Rural Community Hospitals of America and CAH Acquisition Co. 10 LLC. Yadkin officials did not object to the request.
