Tarheel Q remains closed after salmonella outbreak

LEXINGTON, N.C. -- For days CITASVuUMAATpfaTarheel Q has had a sign posted on the door saying it would reopen to the public Monday at 6 a.m.

This morning, Tarheel Q remains dark with no signs of activity other than the occasional passerby checking to see if the business has reopened.

As of noon on Friday, nearly 200 people from at least 14 North Carolina counties and six other states have been identified with signs and symptoms consistent with Salmonellosis after eating at Tarheel Q, according to health officials.

Health officials said all people with symptoms ate at Tarheel Q, located at 6835 West U.S. 64 in Lexington, several days before becoming ill.
